Ada Lovelace Week
Ada Lovelace Week
This event takes inspiration from Ada Lovelace's legacy and celebrates its impact today with a series of talks that aim at bringing to the foreground the work of many scientists, artists and developers; all of them brilliant woman who take programming and hardware further in novel & unexplored direction, from human-computer interactive technologies, new media art, societal impacts of technology accessibility technologies, creativity support tools, multimedia games, and many other perspectives! With this event we celebrate the legacy of Ada Lovelace, a mathematician and writer who recognized in the 1800s already the full potential of computers, but also wish to bring to the foreground the unmistakable contribution and impact of women in technology, which often historically been pushed to the background.
Ada Lovelace Week 2020 aims to celebrate gender diversity in technology and uplift the impact of women and non-binary persons in technology. The event will bring together women and non-binary scientists, artists, and technologists to showcase their work and discuss experiences of being non-binary or a woman in their fields. The event will be held at 3PM CST over the course of 4 days (October 13-16). Each day will feature a different set of panelists with an open Q & A at the end. Registered participants will be sent a zoom link, but the event will also be available to the public through a Youtube stream.
