Suman Raj is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Globus Labs, Department of Computer Science at the University of Chicago. Prior to this, Suman received her Ph.D. from the Department of Computational and Data Sciences, Indian Institute of Science. She has previously worked in the Data Platforms Team of Goldman Sachs and holds a B.Tech. (First Class with Distinction) from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India.
Suman has received the ACM/UPE Scholarship Award, Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship, RECAL, TEQIP, and INSPIRE scholarships, and travel awards from ACM, IEEE, and TCHPC/TCPP. She has previously served as the Chair of the IISc ACM Student Chapter and Joint Secretary in the NIT Trichy Students’ Council.

Focus Areas: Distributed Systems, Mobile Agentic Systems, Edge-Cloud Continuum

My research is motivated by exploring various challenges in distributed systems as they evolve to address real-world scientific problems. At Globus Labs, my work will investigate key aspects of distributed systems, including resilience, agentic behavior, and mobility. During my Ph.D., I have worked on systems design and algorithms for autonomous vehicles, with an emphasis on computer vision applications.
