Tech Talk: Globus - The Global Research Data Management Platform
Globus – The Global Research Data Management Platform
Globus is a non-profit service developed and operated by a research team at the University of Chicago. Our mission is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of researchers engaged in data-driven science and scholarship through sustainable software development. We develop, operate, and sell commercial-quality, AWS-hosted services used by tens of thousands of researchers globally to manage their large-and-growing data management challenges.
This talk will focus on 1) The Globus Auth security platform which underpins all of Globus and many third party apps and services and 2) The Globus Automate service which provides a method of creating “flows” of smaller tasks for coordinating complex data management processes and for defining “triggers” which can execute the tasks automatically in response to events in the environment. We’ll discuss the challenges, architecture overview, and highlight implementation details for each service.
